Nehemiah - More Than Just a Wall (October 18 - November 29, 2009)

Nehemiah: More Than Just a Wall

Everyone agrees that our land is in great trouble and disgrace. There is record unemployment. Greed has ravaged corporate America, destroying the wealth of millions. We have become a nation of consumers and debtors, owned by another. We lack moral clarity on how, or even if, we should care for the sick and aging. Children are killing one another on the streets of our cities without conscience. Babies are aborted in the name of choice, never seeing the light of life. Our government is saddled with corruption and politicians disgrace themselves daily with some new scandal. Our universities are hard at work deprogramming our youth of their “harmful” Christian heritage, values, and beliefs. God is no longer relevant— believing in him is the problem (or so we are made to think).

We’ve seen this story line before. Devoid of God, we long for some "hero" to lead us out of the dark hole we have dug for ourselves. Desperate for hope, we chase one empty promise after another. But no hero emerges!  No promise delivers. Hope proves elusive. Our land continually deteriorates.

Join us for a hard-hitting sermon series that takes a different approach and proposes timeless solutions to the trouble and disgrace we’ve created for ourselves.  When there are no good answers, there is only one place to turn.

No Heroes, Only Faith
[October 18, 2009] No Heroes, Only Faith. We play a critical role in God's unfolding story of redemption. But in order to be used mightily by God, we need to humble ourselves and see how our actions (or inactions) have led to the spiritual devastation of our land. We are complicit. The only way back is to trust in God's covenant love and avail ourselves for his purpose in our generation. We cannot fix it alone. A message by Jon Morrissette.  read more...
No Progress Without God
[October 25, 2009] No Progress Without God. God does not abandon us in our difficult circumstances, but promises to work to the good of those who love him. When we discover this truth and begin walking by faith, we encournter a living God who graciously provides everything we need. A message by Jon Morrissette.   read more...
Every Single One Counts
[November 1, 2009] Every Single One Counts. In God's plan, everyone counts. He moves through all his people collectively to accomplish his purpose and bring glory to himself. Young and old, those of high and low status, those of different ability, talents, giftedness, or wealth. Alone, we cannot accomplish much of anything. Together with God and his people, nothing is impossible. A message by Jon Morrissette.  read more...
It Is Going To Get Real Tough
[November 8, 2009] It Is Going To Get Real Tough. As we become effective in serving God's purpose, the evil one will gather the enemies of God to oppose us. Enemies will rise up from among God's own people. Enemies will rise up from outside God's community. But some of the greatest battles to be found against the evil one will be inside our own hearts. In God's power, we shall overcome these threats. A message by Jon Morrissette.  read more...
It Takes More Than A Building
[November 15, 2009] It Takes More Than A Building. To accomplish God's purposes, it takes more than a building. All around us, godless people execute extraordinary projects through their own human ingenuity, power, and wealth. But there is only one thing that comes from God: revival. Only God can rebuild the shattered heart, mind, body, soul, and relationships of a broken people. A message by Jon Morrissette.  read more...
Stubbornly Loyal, Always
[November 29, 2009] Stubbornly Loyal, Always. We never "arrive" on this side of glory. Despite the great strides we make in advancing God's purpose, we can still experience setbacks and failure. God calls us to persevere in obedience, honoring him in every area of life, no matter how difficult or mundane the journey becomes. A message by Jon Morrissette.  read more...
