Rock Star: The Rise, Fall, and Redemption of Solomon

Solomon was a man of unfathomable wealth, power and privilege.  In his day, silver became as common as stones.  His wisdom was unrivaled by anyone of his time, or since his time. His fame reached the ends of the earth.  People traveled from distant lands just to be in his presence and enjoy his charm.  He enjoyed unprecedented peace with neighboring kings and nations.  Solomon was a man of unlimited potential.  Unfortunately, his heart wasn't right before God and he squandered his potential on excess.  Join us this summer as we study Ecclesiastes and learn timeless lessons from Solomon's life.  Even more important, meet the One who came after Solomon and rose to become the greatest "Rockstar" the world has ever known.

The Rise of an Ancient Rockstar
[June 28, 2009] The Rise of an Ancient Rockstar. God is the giver of good gifts. Solomon was immensely blessed with every good thing available to man. The Lure of Success
[July 12, 2009] The Lure of Success. God created us to do good works. Solomon worked hard to build a kingdom unrivaled by any other in the world. To build this kingdom, he took shortcuts that dishonored God. In the gospels, Satan tempts Jesus to take the same shortcuts in building his kingdom. Instead, Jesus renounced Satan and built his eternal kingdom on the foundation of generosity and sacrifice. A message by Jon Morrissette.  read more...
The Lure of Fame
[July 19, 2009] The Lure of Fame. God created us for his glory. Solomon became notorious for his accumulation of wealth, women, and wisdom--not for his character. In contrast, Jesus chose to humbly obey the Father's will and to empty himself of glory. In obediience, Jesus was exalted to the highest place and was given a name avove all names. The road to glory is through the cross. A message by Jon Morrissette.  read more...
The Redemption of a Rockstar
[July 26, 2009] The Redemption of a Rockstar. God is our great redeemer, who restores his image in us. Despite his bad choices, God redeems Solomon from his empty way of life. In the end, Solomon acknowledges that the beginning of all wisdom is not a life of excess, but a life lived in reverence (fear) of God. And in the end, God used Solomon's brokenness to teach us a better way. A message by Jon Morrissette.   read more...
