Lakeside is forming a group of high school/college age folks and adults to spend a week with HCO in the Peredo area of Haiti (that would be south and east of Port-au-Prince).

When:  June 7^th or 8^th to about the 16^th.

Where:  Traveling from Springfield to Haiti and on to Peredo.  Staying in that area.

Cost:  Approximately $1600 plus passport, vaccinations, and personal needs

To do What:  Paint, assist as needed at the camp and in the area, build relationships with Haitian folks.

This is a good “first step” into mission work in another country – an opportunity to go with other people you may already know.  As Brad says, “It will be a week that will open your eyes and likely change your life.”

PBT is looking for some adult volunteers who would be willing to spend 1 week with them during their week of intensive training for their mission recruit families.

When:  June 4-June 11   Sat. afternoon is a gathering/pre-seminar meeting for volunteers.  Sunday evening is the orientation and opening “party”.

Where:  Dallas Texas

Stay:  in the guest house/dorm and will have meals there.

Cost:  Approximately $250 plus the cost of getting there

To do What:  While the parents are taking their classes, volunteers are needed to assist in these areas – LESSONs are pre-planned for the most part.

1:  Craft teacher and a craft helper – persons able to explain multi-step tasks and keep kids on task.

2. Games and Fitness Coordinator – some table games in the mornings and more active games in the afternoon.
3. 3-6 folks to care for babies ages birth to 3 years old
4. 1-2 folks to “manage” prek, primary, middler ages – mostly being in charge of the classroom and staying on schedule – may be requested to teach a little.

Love Packages is a ministry that began in the summer of 1975 with one family realizing what an abundance of Christian literature they had.  Sixty boxes of literature were sent to missionaries in 4 countries during the first year.  Word quickly spread, causing friends to bring their excess literature for shipment overseas.  Then folks from across the USA began giving Christian literature.

The second year, 3 ½ tons of literature was shipped.  The third year, 7 tons!  Currently, Love Packages sends out as much as 20 tons per week.  If that seems like an awesome amount of “excess” literature, imagine the impact when the materials are received by missionaries and Christian workers around the world.  Statistics tell us that every piece of literature will be read by an average of 20 people.  Each container has at least 1 million pieces so the potential is to reach 20 million people with every container !
